Contributor Spotlight: Brittany Fulton
I was lucky enough to meet Brittany a few years back. She was a regular in my Spin class; always early, a bit reserved, and appreciated my music choices. We became fast friends when I realized we had the same amazing sense of humor and quick wit. When I asked for photos for her bio, she sent me a few, including the beauty seen above (top right). It was a joke, but I used it anyway. I texted her a preview. Her response: "You used the picture!!! I love it, and I love you! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣"
When she found out I had become gluten-free because of my IBD, she made me a dozen dinner plate-sized chocolate chip cookies. I ate half of them while riding out a tornado warning in my closet. She is a queen in the kitchen and doesn't mind me texting her for help when my muffins get "too moist" or what good baking substitutions.
Her big heart was again evident when I coerced her into helping me host a welcome BBQ for the Texas4000 Sierra Route cyclists. She took the reigns the following year after I had moved and continued to fundraise and organize the event for two more years.
When I asked her to write about her battle with PCOS, she was happy to help.
She can rock a red lip (or two) better than anyone I know, and she can tell it like it is without coming off as a biotch. And she didn't make me feel bad for calling her husband the wrong name for at least 6 months.
Needless to say, I love her.
